Borough of East Rutherford Police Department and Municipal Complex:
East Rutherford, New Jersey
New construction located in the Northern New Jersey Meadowlands area
The architecture firm of Guzzo + Guzzo has been shaping the Meadowlands area for more than 40 years. Taking on its last venture, the second-generation family-run business designed and developed the new East Rutherford Police Department and Municipal Court complex from the ground up. With all the approvals in place, the project broke ground in late 2010 and we are now proud to present the completion of the project with the Grand Opening taking place in 2012. The existing police station was previously housed in extremely tight quarters on Grove Street, in the middle of a residential neighborhood with no room to grow. To remedy the situation, the borough teamed with a private developer and created a committee consisting of several councilmen and the police chief to oversee the design. Guzzo + Guzzo Architects worked closely with the committee to design the new two-story, 28,000 sq. ft. complex that now houses the new East Rutherford Police Department and Municipal Court. The new building contains many “Green” building materials and elements that provide a modern and sustainable building for the borough for years to come. Furthermore, the new site is located in a more suitable location, just off of Route 17 on Stanley Street next to the Homewood Suites by Hilton and across the street from the Federal Reserve building, away from the residential area and closer to Meadowlands Stadium. The state of the art facility not only will better serve the East Rutherford residents but also allow the municipality to handle the increased oversight of the American Dream Mall once open.
